Q Strings

Q strings has performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, recorded at Abbey Road, appeared on TV and radio as well as touring worldwide.

Classically trained at the Royal Academy of music, sisters Laura, Ellie and Amy Stanford with cellist Jess Cox formed Q Strings as a way of indulging their passion for pop music, acknowledging the huge role strings play in this genre of music. Their success in this world has resulted in them performing, touring and recording with artists such as Ellie Goulding, Goldfrapp, Brian Wilson, The Specials, Ocean Colour Scene, Years and Years, Sigma, Jamie Cullum, Band of Skulls, Spiritualized, Ian McCulloch, Marina and the Diamonds and Gilbert O’Sullivan.

Pioneers of the latest technology, Q Strings perform on bespoke electro acoustic instruments enabling them to present a classical looking but rock band sized sounding string section. Q strings is centred around a string quartet but also performs as a string section or with fewer players, and own the instruments to enable these options. They also incorporate guitar fx, harmonist, loop pedals as appropriate. The group aim to bring the highest level of musicianship with the latest technology.
