Diana Mathews

Viola

Diana Mathews studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Diana freelances with leading orchestras including the Royal Opera House and London Symphony Orchestra. West End work has included The Phantom of the Opera. She has performed concertos with the Isis Chamber Orchestra and Huntingdon Philharmonic and, with pianist Jonathan Beatty, has given numerous recitals. As a chamber musician she regularly guests with the Kreutzer Quartet and Longbow Ensemble. She has a keen interest in contemporary music – a CD on the Metier label features duos written for her by Michael Alec Rose, performed with Peter Sheppard Skaerved. As part of the Apollo Music Project, Diana regularly gives quartet workshops in schools, introducing children to the string instrument family. She is a violin/viola sectional coach for the Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra. Diana plays on a Pietro Antonio Testore viola (1780).
