Biography

Morgan Goff is based in London he works extensively as a Session, chamber and solo violist. He is currently the Violist of the Gavin Bryars Ensemble the Locrian Ensemble, Primivera, Cirrus string Quartet and the Australia house Ensemble. He also works with London Sinfonieta, London Mozart Players and  Britten Sinfonia amongst others. Most recent solo work includes the premier of Gavin Bryars’s Viola Concerto with the Tasmania Symphony Orchestra in 2021 with the UK Premiere and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in early 2022. Record labels he has recorded for as soloist and chamber musician include Hyperion, Meridian, Naxos NMC, Toccata Classics, Metier, Guild, Dutton Epoch, BMS and ABC classics. He has performed worldwide as

Morgan was the Violist of the Kreutzer Quartet for ten years. The Quartet, whilst busy with an international performing schedule are also the dedicatees of well over two hundred works for string quartet and have recorded cycles of quartets by, Gloria Coates, Roberto Gerhard, David Matthews, Michael Tippett, Anton Reicha, Michael Finnissy, Thomas Simaku, and Jeremy Dale Roberts, among others. During this period, he also worked closely with the late pianist Raphael Terroni, with whom he has performed and recorded a great deal of the English viola repertoire.

As a freelancer, he is busy in the London session and West End scene. He currently has the chair in the West End’s production of Les Miserables. He has recorded and toured with many popular musicians, including Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, Goldfrappe, Robbie Williams, Madonna, Beyoncé and U2. Film and TV includes The lord of the rings, Harry Potter, Batman, Downton Abbey and Father Brown to name a few.

His instrument is a Daniel Parker viola, London, 1715.
