Christopher Deacon began studying the cornet at the age of six under the tutelage his father, who was the Trumpet and Cornet Instructor for Her Majesty’s Royal Marines. Christopher went on to become the Principal Trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the European Union Youth Orchestra. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music [London], Junior Department with John Miller and at the Royal Academy of Music [London], with John Wallace, James Watson, and Ian Balmain, where he won a Scholarship and graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Music (Performance) Degree and LRAM.

Christopher is now Principal Trumpet of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, having been appointed to the orchestra in 2002. He also works as Guest Principal Trumpet with many of the finest orchestras in Great Britain and internationally including the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, BBC Concert Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Santa Cecilia Orchestra.

Christopher is also busy as a freelance session musician and can be heard often as Solo Trumpet on many major film and television sound tracks including music for the 2012 Olympics and Opening Ceremony.

In the field of chamber music he has worked with and led some of the finest brass ensembles including The Wallace Collection, London Symphony Orchestra Brass, Royal Opera House Brass Soloists, Symphonic Brass of London, London Brass, The Locke Brass Consort, Fine Arts Brass and the Black Dyke Mills Band.

Christopher has made solo and concerto appearances in many major venues in this country and abroad including Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Barbican Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral [Paris], Philharmonic Hall [Oslo], Hamburg, Madrid, and in Hong Kong. He was also honoured to be a soloist at the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at St Georges Chapel, Windsor.

Christopher is a Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was elected as an Associate of The Royal Academy of Music, London for achieving distinction in the music profession. He has taught and given masterclasses for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Mediterranean Youth Orchestra and Birmingham Conservatoire.
