1980 - 86 CBSO, Welsh National Opera on freelance basis
1986 - 91 2nd trombone / bass trumpet with the London Symphony Orchestra
1991 - 97 Principal trombone, The Chamber Orchestra of Europe

Currently freelance 1st or 2nd trombone with London orchestras.
Particularly the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and occasionally the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

CHAMBER / CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Composers Ensemble, Endymion Ensemble, Fibonacci Sequence, Ensemble Modern.
Recently appeared as a soloist on Radio 3, playing Berio Sequenza.

EARLY MUSIC
Specialist in alto trombone / sackbut.
1st trombone, Freiburger Barockorchester.
Also works with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Orchestra of the
Eighteenth Century, Gabrieli Consort and Players.
Relevant academic work in this field: research into 19th century style.
Contributor to Cambridge Companion to Brass, papers at HBS conferences in London and Paris.

GENERAL
Professor of trombone and historic performance practice at Guildhall School of Music and Drama since 1986.
