Biography
Judith studied the cello with the late Florence Hooton until the age of 17, and after moving to London, continued her musical training at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) with Stefan Popov.  Whilst at the GSMD Judith was awarded the William Pleeth prize and AGSM performance diploma.  After completing the 4-year performance course Judith continued her cello studies with David Strange.

A very experienced orchestral cellist, Judith played extensively with the Philharmonia Orchestra 1997-2020, including a trial for the no. 5 position (2004-07).  She currently works as a regular guest cellist with the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and BBC Concert Orchestra.

Judith has worked extensively as a chamber musician, being a founder member of several ensembles.  The Chaminade String Quartet was formed over 25 years ago and still plays regularly, and the Bow Belles Cello Quartet gave concerts as part of the Live Music Now! scheme from 1993-98.

Education projects have been a regular feature in Judith’s career.  She has enjoyed a wide variety of projects for the Philharmonia education department, giving workshops throughout the UK and in New York.
